The Little Mermeid by pirifool The Little Mermeid by pirifool

This is my little revisiting of the famous tale written by Hans Christian Andersen: "The Little Mermeid".
In the original story she suffer her unhappy destiny: the prince who she loves and sacrifices herself married an other princess. She renounced to an quite life like a mermeid' princess, accepts fisic mutilations, and pains for to live near her love. At the end she kills herself an came back to deeps of the ocean because she can't obtain the price' love never.
In my revisiting i'd like to set free Ariel of her story, she escape an free herself from the destiny...

Realization: i printed the tale (italian version) and make pices of paper that i scannerized (does exists this verb?) for the rest i used stock pics:
syndroid (the book)
AnnieCatBlue (the very pretty breast)
showna-stock (the fish)
dead-stock (the girl)

hope you like it

I am scouting for work for my Lost Book Club and Museum:iconlostbooks:, and I think this piece would be a good fit. I wonder if you would grant us permission to post it in the club gallery for the amazement and edification of our small but growing audience. I thank you for considering this request.

Best Regards,
James Koehnline

fantastic, I love how fishy she is. and how elated she looks, liek she really is reaching somethign better. The little mermaid (the real version) always made me so sad, but then, the disney version always seemed to leave you feeling lied to.

I feel badly for the fishgirl. Can we really change the ending of stories like we can dreams? Interesting how you carry other people's work in new directions both with the art and the story. That itself is a form of freedom. Good job.

Veramente notevole!
A me la luce piace, ma concordo che il passaggio coda/corpo sia un po' artificiale.

Comunque :+fav: secco!!!

Hello Piri! I think this is fantastic. Anyone that has read fairy tales knows that they are not all happy and rainbows, but rather many are brutal and depressing. I think that you have captured such emotion and range here, and I love the blending that you have done as well. It looks amazing. On top of that, with the the way you have the scraps of paper overlaying the figure, was not only really smart, but very effective. What a great idea that you had and how you made it realized into a piece of art is something I wish I could do more of! This is very beautiful and encouraging...

Thanks for sharing this! :rose:
